HALLOWEEN is months away, but retailers have started to stock shelves with candy, costumes, and seasonal decorations.

Dollar Tree shoppers are already scrambling to get their hands on one viral product dupe– it’s 90% cheaper than its Michaels counterpart.

Halloween enthusiasts and Dollar Tree fanatics alike are raving about the discount retailer’s affordable decor.

One popular Dollar Tree item is the Creepy Plant, a $3 dupe of the Venus Flytrap Tabletop Décor by Ashland.

Michaels estimates the Venus Flytrap will be in stock and available to buy by August 16.

The green-and-purple, textured, and glittery plant is “playful and bright,” according to Michael’s website.

However, the viral item from Michaels’ Hocus Pocus collection will also come with a steep price tag.

FREAKY FLOWERS

Shoppers looking to add a Venus Flytrap to their collection would have to shell out $30 at the retailer.

Many potential buyers are put off by the price, arguing that paying $30 for a single, fake flower is too much, even for a spooky Halloween staple.

Dollar Tree, on the other hand, is offering three unique dupes to the Venus Flytrap plant at a fraction of the cost.

Dollar Tree’s Creepy Plant is already for sale at select Dollar Tree locations nationwide, and they’re retailing for $3 a piece.

Each flower plant comes with an orange, black, or white pumpkin base.

Shoppers can choose from a:

  • Pink rose with a white-and-yellow “eyeball” in the middle
  • Cartoon-esque Venus Flytrap, complete with “sharp teeth”
  • Red rose with a set of white fangs in the center

A long green stem and green-and-pink patterned leaves complete each fake plant.

Dollar Tree dupes

Savvy shoppers have scoured Dollar Tree to find dupes of their favorite products

Shoppers found a perfect replica of a $150 set of Pottery Barn plates and bowls. Plus, Dollar Tree has matching mugs.

Dollar Tree also had dupes for the viral Starbucks tumblers.

Customers found dupes for Home Depot’s $39 outdoor solar lights.

Dollar Tree has a dupe for The Pink Stuff cleaning paste, too.

“Ooooh they popped off,” one Reddit user wrote.

“Dollar Tree has been my go-to for decorations for ages. They have so many cute things!” another customer commented.

Dollar Tree’s Creepy Plants aren’t the only decor already on sale in stores.

The discount chain is also selling $5 “bleeding” candles in various shapes, including a skull, brain, bones, and heart.

Michaels, meanwhile, has just one bleeding candle in stock, in the shape of a skull, for $16.99 – a 70% markup.

Other Dollar Tree Halloween decor items include skull garlands in black, gold, and off-white, drink dispensers reminiscent of pumpkins and cauldrons, and pillows in the shape of ghosts, monsters, and jack-o’-lanterns.

The best part is they’re all available for $5 – or less.

“Okay but the candles are a MUST HAVE!!” one user commented.

“They have great decorations and the prices are nice,” one shopper shared.

“People get crazy at the big box stores spending money. Good on them if they can afford that. I enjoy the hunt for crafting items at cheap prices,” they added.

“The cauldron dispenser is a must have,” another shopper wrote.

“I get most of my stuff at Dollar Tree and thrifting my yard looks fabulous!!!” another savvy shopper shared.

Even a former employee got in on the fun, offering a key piece of advice to fellow shoppers.

“They do usually have cool stuff for Halloween and other decorations…and then in like a week all the stuff would be sold out,” a former Dollar Tree cashier shared.

“People tend to go in and buy out the entire store so I’d suggest trying to grab some of what you need before the people who stuff their cart and buy every single item in the Halloween section descend upon it lol,” they added.

Dollar Tree pricing

Despite the name of the store, Dollar Tree recently added items that cost more than $1 to its inventory.

Most items at the store cost no more than $1.25, but items in the Dollar Tree Plus section cost up to $5.

Dollar Tree introduced Plus aisles to 100 locations in 2019 as part of an effort to diversify its products.

By 2022, Dollar Tree had added the items to over 1,500 locations.

“We believe testing additional price points above $1 for Dollar Tree products will enable us over time to expand our assortments, introduce new products and meet more of our customers’ everyday needs,” president and CEO Michael Witynski said in a statement.

“Our brand promise is that customers get great value for what they spend at Dollar Tree. We will continue to be fiercely protective of that promise, regardless of the price point.”

BUDGET BOOS

Instead of forking over $29.50 for just one Skeleton Champagne Glass from Pottery Barn, savvy shoppers are getting three plastic flutes from Dollar Tree.

The discount chain is selling a set of three Halloween-themed glasses for just $1.25, saving customers nearly 96% – and giving customers two additional glasses.

Shoppers shared their thoughts on the decorative drinkware on social media, raving about the price, quality, and party potential.

“I picked up several. Would be fun for a party,” one shopper shared.

“I bought twenty of these as centerpieces for a party,” another buyer commented.

PARTY PLATES

Dollar Tree doesn’t just sell Halloween decor – it also has an array of items for sale, from housewares to party essentials.

Whether you’re throwing a ghastly get-together just in time for Halloween, or just spending a night cooking at home, you may want to consider buying another viral dupe.

Deck out your dining table with a set of Royal Norfolk Stoneware Dinner Plates, on sale at Dollar Tree for just $1.25 per plate.

The plates are eerily reminiscent of the Le Creuset Vancouver Dinner Plates sold at Williams-Sonoma.

The Williams-Sonoma option, which comes in a pack of four, will set shoppers back $80, or $20 per plate.

Comparatively, Dollar Tree shoppers could buy 64 plates for the same price tag as a set of four from Williams-Sonoma.
