‘Kinda genius,’ Chipotle customer raves after restaurant chain announces ‘burrito-proof lipstick’ inspired by menu

CHIPOTLE celebrated National Avocado Day in style, offering customers a free side or topping of guacamole by ordering on the Chipotle app.

The popular restaurant chain also partnered up with cosmetics brand Wonderskin to create a “guac-proof” lip stain that has social media users raving.

Chipotle’s success is largely due to its dedicated fan base, with diners flocking to the fast-casual restaurant chain for burritos, tacos, bowls, and, of course, guacamole.

Diners who missed out on the chain’s National Avocado Day special on July 31 still have a chance to celebrate.

The restaurant chain partnered with Wonderskin, an equally popular makeup brand, to launch a limited-edition lip stain aptly called “Lipotle.”

The green Wonder Blading Peel and Reveal Lip Stain Kit is described as “transfer-proof,” and “guac-proof,” which comes in handy when you want your lipstick to last before, during, and after your Chipotle lunch or dinner.

The Wonder Blading Peel and Reveal Lip Stain Kit comes with three items: a lip masque, an activator, and a swiper towel.

When applied to lips, the masque delivers an ultra-pigmented green shade reminiscent of Chipotle’s famous guacamole.

The color is also a great way to take part in this season’s most viral trend, brat summer, coined by pop sensation Charli XCX’s latest album.

After letting the masque sit – anywhere from 10 to 15 seconds for a softer color, and up to 45 seconds for a bolder look – spray the activator a few times until lips are slightly damp.

Then, wait a few seconds, and simply peel off the mask, using the swiper towel to remove any remnants of green to unveil a gorgeous, nude-pink color suitable for all skin tones.

Formulated with safe ingredients, the lip stain is vegan, cruelty-free, and gluten-free.

According to Wonderskin’s website, the lip stain is also designed to “level up the look of your next mukbang.”

Mukbang comes from the Korean word “meokbang” which combines the Korean words for “eating” and “broadcast.”

Mukbangs have become a viral internet sensation, complete with influencers eating an array of food and snack items on TikTok, YouTube, and other video platforms.

“With the popularity of mukbangs on social media, we noticed our fans are in need of a smudge-proof lip stain to enjoy their Chipotle on-the-go,” said Stephanie Perdue, Chipotle’s vice president of brand marketing, in a press release.

The limited-edition Lipotle Wonder Blading Lip Stain Kit retails for $29, and includes free shipping.

“By merging Chipotle’s bold, flavorful essence with Wonderskin’s revolutionary beauty technology, we’re creating a one-of-a-kind experience and product that will captivate and delight our customers like never before,” Kalenchyts added.

LET’S GUAC ABOUT IT

Social media was buzzing about the unique collaboration, praising the brands for their “kinda genius” marketing move.

“Name a more iconic duo than @wonderskin x @ChipotleTweets, we’ll wait…,” Wonderskin posted on X.

“Lipotle,” one user posted, alongside two crying laughing emojis, adding, “kinda genius.”

“Chipotle is having a brat summer,” another social media user shared.

“I bought 3 of the wonder skin lipsticks and they are 100% worth the hype,” one Reddit user revealed.

Still, despite the hype, some fans were saddened to learn that Lipotle’s green shade was just temporary.

“I wish they actually released a green lip colour. It looks so nice,” one user wrote.

“That’s actually a really pretty shade of green! Too bad it’s not an actual lip color,” another user agreed.

And, as always, a few social media users were scratching their heads at the “strange” collaboration.

“Here’s a strange collaboration for you…I will forever be mystified how some of this stuff happens,” one user posted.

“I guess if you’re going to pay that much for guacamole, you don’t want your lipstick to ruin it,” another user quipped.

Chipotle’s guacamole, which has always cost extra, typically sells for around $2.65, depending on location.

Chipotle has faced its fair share of criticism online as customers have begun to complain about the chain’s smaller portion sizes and increased prices.

Employees at the fast-casual chain have tried to alleviate customer concerns, with even Chipotle’s CEO stepping up to address customer complaints.
