FIXER UPPER was a reality TV show centered on home design and renovation that aired from 2014 to 2018.
The show’s hosts, couple Chip and Joanna Gaines revived the series in 2021 with several stand-alone spin-offs on their new channel, Magnolia Network, and are now taking on their biggest project yet in Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse.

Where is the lakehouse on Fixer Upper located?
Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse differs slightly from the original television series due to its new(ish) location.
Couple Chip and Joanna Gaines famously own a home renovation and redecoration business in Waco, Texas, where the majority of their fixer-uppers and flips occur.
This time around, the couple is tackling their 10-year Fixer Upper anniversary project at a mid-century modern lakehouse near Lake Waco.
Thankfully, the couple is staying in Texas, and Lake Waco is only about 10-15 miles away from their central operations in Waco.
Still, the couple is taking on a new project in a new neighborhood, one they’ve never worked in yet – and one viewers have never seen before on Fixer Upper.
Lake Waco is a man-made reservoir located on Waco’s west side, in McLennan County, Texas.
The reservoir provides water to several cities in the Waco metropolitan area, and has recently become a perfect weekend and summer getaway for nearby residents.
Homes in the area range from affordable $250,000 bungalows and lots to million-dollar mega-mansions with lakefront views and access.
“When Fixer Upper premiered ten years ago, we couldn’t have imagined the journey we had ahead of us,” the couple said in a press release, as reported by Collider.
“Though a lot has changed and evolved in the decade between then and now, our love for home is still at the heart of everything we do.”
“We feel honored that we get to continue pouring into the stories of these homes across Waco,” they added.
What is Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse about?
Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse is a special edition season of the beloved home renovation series, Fixer Upper.
The season celebrates the tenth anniversary of the iconic show, and follows the series’ hosts, Chip and Joanna Gaines, as they take on their biggest and most challenging flip yet.
Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse will follow the couple as they renovate and restore a mid-century modern 1960s lakehouse retreat near Texas’s Lake Waco.
“Chip found a set of plans in this lakehouse that showed the house was built in 1965 and the husband loved mid-century modern style and the wife loved that Spanish revival style,” Joanna Gaines told Variety.
“And you see this blend of them trying to work it out. There was something about that, me thinking about going back to the ’60s, that this husband and wife were really trying to go out with different opinions and create this interesting little baby.”
Chip and Joanna are excited to show longtime viewers and new fans alike how they’ve gone “above and beyond,” this season.
Viewers can expect less of the modern farmhouse style the Gaines’ popularized with their original show and should prepare themselves for surprising, unique, and eclectic new design choices and outdoor installations.
“There had been a renovation in the ’90s where you see a lot of the mid-century elements were removed and it got more contemporary,” Joanna said.
“So for me, the challenge was getting it back to that ’65 look and that couple’s look. That was my favorite thing about this project,” she added.
Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse won’t be an easy, breezy flip, but if anyone can see the potential in a fixer-upper lakehouse, Chip and Joanna Gaines are the ones up for the challenge.
The couple most recently renovated both a hotel and a castle, finding success in both projects.
