TEST your vision and challenge your brain by seeing if you can spot the insect hidden among a sea of green leaves.

This perfectly camouflaged insect is trickier to spot than you think – but if you can find it in 10 seconds or less, you may have a higher IQ than your average puzzler.

Can you spot the insect hiding among the leaves?

Insects are incredibly talented at camouflaging themselves, helping them hide from prey and predators.

This insect can position itself among a patch of lush green leaves and blend in naturally with its surroundings.

Even the most highly skilled puzzle enthusiast would struggle to find the hidden insect, given that it is likely the same shade of green as the leafy vegetation surrounding it.

Staring at the image for too long can also make the insect all the more difficult to spot as the leaves start blending.

Eagle-eyed viewers were stumped when asked to find the insect, claiming it wasn’t in the photo.

Finding it in 10 seconds or less presents even more of a challenge, with viewers racing against the clock.

Are you ready to admit defeat?

Here’s a hint: focus on the differences between the leaves and the insect.

Insects have legs, antennae, and eyes, which are distinctive features to look out for.

If you still can’t find the hidden insect, we’ll give you another clue below.

The insect is located near the middle of the image, near the righthand side.

Now that you know where to focus your attention—the middle, right-hand side—it should be easy to find the insect.

Were you able to find it?

Benefits of brainteasers and optical illusions

Researchers have developed many tests to show how various brain regions react to brainteasers and optical illusions. There are many benefits.

  • They are not only entertaining, but they also shed light on how our brains interpret visual data.
  • By giving your brain a little workout regularly, you enhance your ability to focus and observe details.
  • Studies have shown people who regularly challenge themselves with optical illusions and puzzles see big improvements in their problem-solving skills, concentration, and attention.
  • Improved concentration and attention span can help prevent cognitive decline in old age.
  • Optical illusions can improve eyesight by allowing you to see small print.

Or, are you ready to admit that this optical illusion stumped your senses?

If you can’t find the hidden insect or are growing frustrated at yourself, don’t worry!

It’s possible to train your eyesight and brain to become better at optical illusions over time.

Optical illusions are created to try and trick your brain into seeing or not seeing certain visuals.

We’ve included the answer to this optical illusion below.

The hidden insect was hiding in plain sight all along.

It’s slightly off-center in the middle of the leaves, near the right-hand side.

The insect’s yellow antennae were the biggest clue you needed to find the pesky creature.

Were you able to find the hidden insect?

If so, congratulations!

If you managed to do it in 10 seconds or less, great job!

You may have a higher IQ than the average person or have excellent, 20/20 vision.

Optical illusions aren’t just a fun activity to pass the time.

They also give your brain a great mental workout.

The U.S. Sun has plenty of more optical illusions for you to solve.

Check out the one below – can you find the hidden four-leaf clover in a sea of shamrocks?

Finding the four-leaf clover is harder than it seems, especially in this sea of three-leaf clovers

And, can you manage to do so in 30 seconds or less?

This brainteaser, created by Betway, is especially tricky, and like the insect hidden among leaves, your eyes will have to focus on a lot of green.

This four-leaf clover may be even more tricky to find than one in real life!

We’ll give you a major hint: split the image into three vertical sections – left, middle, and right.

The four-leaf clover is somewhere near the lefthand side of the image.

Were you able to find the four-leaf clover?

Whether you managed to find the four-leaf clover or not, try your hand – or your eyes – at another optical illusion.

This one deals with another photograph.

You’re tasked with finding an animal, not an insect, this time around.

Can you spot the rabbit hidden somewhere in this grassy field?

Can you find the hidden rabbit?

This one doesn’t have as much green as the others, but don’t let it fool you!

If you can find the hidden rabbit in 10 seconds or less, you’re more than likely a pro at optical illusions.

Or maybe you just have a high IQ and 20/20 vision!

Here’s a major hint: focus on the area above the green grass.

Still can’t find it?

Look near the middle of the image, right where the green grass meets the tall, brown prairie grass.

Were you able to find the hidden rabbit?

The rabbit was in plain sight all along – standing on its hind legs, with its back facing the camera and its head tilted to the left.

Alright, we have one more optical illusion below.

This one has nothing to do with animals, leaves, or insects.

And thankfully, there are no green hues in sight, giving your eyes a significant break.

Can you find the shiny diamond hidden amongst a sea of pearls?

Can you find the diamond hidden amongst a sea of pearls?

Although gemstones come in different sizes, a diamond should have that extra sparkle, making it easier to spot.

Having trouble finding the diamond?

Focus your attention on the lower half of the image.

Remember that you’re likely looking for a gray shade with a little more bling.

Still having trouble?

The diamond is somewhere near the bottom right-hand side of the picture.

The science behind optical illusions

This brief explanation may help to unscramble your brain...

  • Optical illusions make a little bit more sense when you learn that our eyes have very little to do with what we see and it is our brains that play the key role in creating images and trying to protect us from the potential threats around us
  • Our brain is constantly trying to make sense of the world at the quickest pace it can despite the world being in 3D and the images on our retinas being in 2D
  • It can be really difficult for your brain to interpret everything at once so it will often take shortcuts and give you a simplified version of what you see so you can have quicker reaction times if the object you’re looking at looks dangerous
  • When you look at an object what you’re really seeing is the light that bounced off of it and entered your eye, which is converted into electrical impulses that your brain then turns into an image
  • Our brains can warp straight lines if an object in the middle of them looks like it’s drawing closer as it wants to emphasize the potential threat
  • Different colours and light and dark can make the same sized objects look different or make patterned images look like they’re spinning
