COLLEGE football star Spencer Rattler played for both the Oklahoma Sooners and the South Carolina Gamecocks before moving onto the NFL.
Spencer Rattler showed off his skills in a Netflix sports documentary series, QB1: Beyond The Lights, which focused on three senior high school quarterbacks as they played their final season before moving on to NCAA D1 college programs.

Who is quarterback Spencer Rattler?
Spencer Michael Rattler was born on September 28, 2000, in Phoenix, Arizona.
He attended Pinnacle High School, where he broke the Arizona high school passing record on his 18th birthday.
Throughout his high school career, Rattler managed to throw 11,083 yards with 116 passing touchdowns and rushed 1,040 yards with 14 rushing touchdowns.
During his senior season, Rattler was named MVP of the Elite 11, a US quarterback competition, at The Opening in Texas.
In his last season of high school football, he also starred in season three of QB1: Beyond The Lights, a sports documentary series directed by Peter Berg, known for his work on the 2004 sports drama, Friday Night Lights.
According to the New York Post, Rattler’s appearance in the documentary series hurt his chances at securing a higher pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, despite a show-stopping college career.
“Spencer Rattler did a reality show in high school,” said Ian Rapoport on the NFL Network’s broadcast of the draft.
“It did not make him look great,” he added.
“And it is unbelievable how many different teams mentioned to me the image of him in that show and how they can’t get it out of their heads, which I think would be a public service announcement to all 17-year-olds.”
“But it is fascinating while teams weigh whether or not to draft him.”
The series showed Rattler getting suspended during his senior year for violating a district code of conduct.
The violation not only kept him out for his senior night game, but also the remainder of his last high school season.
His family, meanwhile, tried to play off the suspension by claiming that Rattler was suffering from an injury at that time.
Still, Rattler went on to play college football, leaving his suspension in the past.
He enrolled at the University of Oklahoma on June 12, 2019, but managed to appear in only three games, allowing him to redshirt his freshman year of college.
In December 2021, Rattler announced that he was transferring to the University of South Carolina.
He was the starting quarterback in the 2022 season, and led his team to an 8-5 record.
In 2023, he led South Carolina to a 5-7 record, and his plays were described as one of the best quarterback seasons in school history.
He was named MVP after playing in the 2024 Senior Bowl.
In April 2024, Rattler was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the fifth round of the draft, as the 150th overall pick.
There were 137 picks between Rattler and Bo Nix, who was the sixth quarterback drafted, with the 12th overall pick.
This marked the longest wait between quarterback picks in the history of the NFL Draft.
Does Spencer Rattler have a girlfriend?
Before being drafted to the NFL, Spencer Rattler has gone through several highs and lows throughout the last few years.
Standing by his side for years is his girlfriend, Yazmina Gonzalez.
The duo both attended Pinnacle High School together, and are high school sweethearts.
They’ve reportedly been together for a decade, and started dating their freshman year of high school.
Gonzalez is a fellow athlete, having played volleyball in high school and for Scottsdale Community College in the 2019-2020 season.
While her athletic career seems to have come to an end, she seems to be building a brand on social media.
While her X, formerly Twitter, account is private, she boasts more than 18,000 followers on Instagram and over 4,100 followers on TikTok.
She regularly posts content of herself lounging on the beach, posing in stylish, dressy outfits, and snapping mirror selfies.
She has also dedicated several Instagram highlights to her travels, workouts, and “good eats,” including restaurants she’s dined at and healthy meals she’s made at home.
Both Gonzalez and Rattler are absent from each others’ Instagram grids, though they do follow one another.
They also took a trip together in July 2023, posting separate snaps of themselves enjoying some island time in the Turks and Caicos.

Spencer Rattler has had a strong support system throughout his life, starting with his parents.
Rattler’s parents are Michael “Mike” Rattler and Susan Konkel Rattler.
Mike’s birthday is unknown, but Susan was born on March 8, 1970.
While Spencer is the duo’s only son, he isn’t their only child.
They are also parents to Olivia Rattler, a high school and college volleyball player.
Olivia was born on December 17, 2002, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Olivia committed to play D1 beach volleyball at Missouri State University in 2020.
As of April 2024, she is currently a junior majoring in communications and marketing, as reported by her Missouri State Bears biography.
